RETRANSMISSION__ is a group exhibition that features a survey of post-graffiti abstract artists from Poland. This collective of artists have lived and worked amongst each other, individually and sometimes through collaboration for many years, establishing a contemporary style unique to Poland. Mirus Gallery celebrates their style and its international influence on contemporary abstraction. Join us Friday June 3rd for a VIP Preview at 6pm followed by the Opening Reception 7-10pm. Four artists will be in attendance: Lukasz Habiera Nawer, Oskar Pudolski, Lukasz Berger Cekas and Bartosz Janczak. The exhibition will remain on display through July 8, 2022.

About the Exhibition:
“RETRANSMISSION__ is currently one of the largest and most interesting presentations of Polish non-figurative painting abroad (Poland). Particular attention is paid to the wide range of artists invited to the exhibition, who by no means constitute a hermetic circle focused around the phenomenon of urban art or post-graffiti. This group consists of painters, draftsmen, muralists, graphic designers, sculptors and typographers. Thanks to that, RETRANSMISSION__ is not a simple show, nor is it an exhibition reduced to the presentation of works whose common denominator is the street. It is an exhibition that is a story about individual styles, the processes of shaping them and sometimes even reducing complex, highly contextual forms to geometric, typographic or compositional forms.
The exhibition – as a whole – can also be seen as a sui generis manifesto of the generation of artists born in Poland in the 1980s. Artists were brought up in a country free from socialism, shaped by the same cultural codes that were successfully exploited in the United States and Western Europe. The more interesting for the viewer may be the perspective of receiving RETRANSMISSION__ as a reinterpretation of the world common to all of us, but told from as far a perspective as Poland.” – Cezary Hunkiewicz, Brain Damage Gallery, Poland
