Colossal Errors & Major Mistakes

November 11 - December 22, 2016

Mirus Gallery is pleased to present "Colossal Errors & Major Mistakes," new works by Joram Roukes (NL). The artist will be in attendance for the opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, November 11 and the exhibition runs through December 22, 2016.

From the Artist: "Colossal Errors & Major Mistakes" relates to flaws in both the aesthetics of the paintings and flaws in society. The way the work came about is with a sense of allowing serendipitous mistakes to occur during the process while the subject matter ironically depicts a flawed world, on both a personal and objective level.

About the Artist: Born 1983 in Lelystad, and currently based in Groningen, Netherlands. Roukes received a BFA from The Academy of Fine Arts Minerva in painting and education in 2006. In 2008, the artist was awarded a startstipendium by the Dutch arts fund BKVB which enabled him to participate in an artist residency in Brooklyn, New York. In his most recent work, Roukes' oil paintings are reflections of daily life situations in western society, filtered and reassembled in a collage-like manner. The artist has exhibited throughout Europe with shows in Copenhagen, London, Hong Kong, and Paris, and across the United States with shows in Los Angeles, New York, and SCOPE Miami Beach 2015 with Mirus Gallery.
